Day 13: What Do you Have to Lose?

40 days, 40 nights

Jesus fasted.

You and me

40 days 40 nights

Fasting from those things that weigh us down.

How many pounds have you shed

by Putting off and Putting on?

How did Jesus do it?

Yes, He is Jesus so it seems easy for Him...

But how~

"Because He never lost sight to where He was headed…that exhilarating finish in and with God…He could put up with anything along the way; Cross, shame, whatever. And now He’s there in the place of honor, right alongside God.Hebrews 12 (The Message)

How did Jesus do it?

His eyes FIXED on His destination...

The CROSS~

“the cross covers and embraces the deepest sorrows and suffering that has reached the human heart." (Chuck Smith)

He knew what was going to happen on that cross...

and He did it anyway...

Because He fixed His eyes beyond the cross~

His eyes were focused on us!

Jesus PUT off a lot, so He could PUT Salvation on us.

“The heart of salvation is the Cross of Christ. The reason salvation is so easy to obtain is that it Cost God so much." (Oswald Chambers)

So why take His Hand to walk with Him?

Because He shows us how to walk.

He walked as a man to the cross~

“...being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man...”

Philippians 2

So He could relate and sympathize with us in our weaknesses~

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses...” Hebrews 4:15

He is us...

He can relate with whatever we have gone through, and whatever we will go through...

Because He understands all your emotions, and every weight you carry

But

Jesus doesn’t stop at just understanding.

He provides the strength needed to face anything

Because

He knows pain since He suffered it firsthand.

.

What is weighing you down?

What do you need to fast from today?

You can, because He did.

He laid down His life, so He could carry you.

Jesus walked our road, so we could walk down His.

He did it all...

so we could become All that God intended us to be.

How was He able to take that first step?

His eyes were fixed on You

How do we take every step?

Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!

Hebrews 12:2-3

Fast today from whatever is weighing you down
