My grandmother had such beautiful words of wisdom that are forever stored in my heart,
words to live by.
But there was one saying that I would cringe as soon as she said it...
The road to hell is paved with good intentions
Ugh...
Procrastination
Why do it now when I can do it tomorrow?
What are you procrastinating to do today?
Is it the same thing that you have procrastinated to do from yesterday?
Doesn't the sun procrastinate when it could come out today
but will come out until tomorrow?
But what if
God procrastinated from the very beginning when He said in Genesis 1
Let there be light
Let us make mankind in our own image
It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. Genesis 2:18
And God in telling Abraham,
"...your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. Genesis 17:19
What if God procrastinated?
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
What if God Did Procrastinate.....
then the road to hell
would be paved with good intentions!
But God did what
He said He would do
because
God is not man, that He should lie,
or a son of man, that He should change His mind.
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it? Numbers 23:19
God will do what He says He will do
And God did what He said He would do...
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying,
“Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. Galatians 4:4-7
And His Son didn't procrastinate
when He Said
The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise. Mark 9:31
Like Father like Son
Jesus didn't procrastinate
so He could give us a
a new road to walk down
A Highway to Heaven
paved with love
to walk daily
with Him
to our final destination,
but only if we don't
Procrastinate
to follow Him.
Well
my grandmother was right~
my good intentions won't get me anywhere...
well actually
somewhere where I don't want to go.
So
Let's Fast from
Procrastination
and follow through with those good intentions
by not only doing those daily things you have been putting off to do
But
first doing something you can't put off to do another time..
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Because the Son will come out tomorrow
Because He is here today.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest
Matthew 11:28
