I am forgiven
yet I walk into the courtroom
every day
and the
Judge says,
"You again. I thought I told you that you are
not guilty.
How many times do I have to tell you?"
And I respond,
"Just once more...and then I will believe you."
The Judge hits his gavel and says
once again,
Not guilty~
because
He
paid the price
you owe nothing
"Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." John 5:8
So
I leave...
but then the next day
I show up again
and the
Judge says
"You again!
I thought I told you
'not guilty'."
Daily
putting myself on the
Seat of Penance~
Permanent Probation~
by
Still trying
to
Do more
to
Be more
so that I am
reallllllllly
forgiven.
Do you keep going back to the courtroom because you don't believe
you are reallllly forgiven?
But then I remember
the Judge~
my God,
and
His Son~
the One
Who paid the price
once and for all
and said
not guilty.
It is finished
No more
seat of penance.
No more
me
or you
paying the debt that was paid.
But
that doesn't meant that
we keep sinning so that God can show us
more and more of His wonderful grace. Romans 6:1
and
take advantage of our new born freedom.
Instead
we take action
and
take the
Hand of the
One
Who paid the debt
and
follow
Him
and
follow
His Word.
And
when I
and
when you
fall
we don't run back to the
courtroom
to sit on the
Seat of Penance
but instead
we run back to
our
Savior
so He can
wipe off our knees
and then
take our hand
so that we can
walk
together
down the path
paved with
Forgiveness~
His Forgiveness
because
The Judge~
Our God
has hit the gavel
Once
and for
All
and said~
He will accept and acquit us
~declare us “not guilty”~
if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like. Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal; yet now God declares us “not guilty” of offending him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in his kindness freely takes away our sins. Romans 3:22-24
So
Let's
get off the
Seat of Penance
by
Putting On
His Forgiveness
Once and for All
because
Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” John 8:11
