Day 15: The Backpack

What is in your back pack?

That bag on your back

that comes with you

wherever you go.

It gets heavier and heavier

because

what you are carrying

you are just carrying around

wherever you go

and as long as you are carrying it

the heavier it gets

reminding you every second of

what you are carrying

because it is heavy

and you get tired

but you just can't let it go.

What is in your backpack?

Is it a

Book of

Disappointment, Despair, Worry

or

Is it a

Book of

Grief, Loss, Uncertainty?

Whatever it is

You keep reading the same book

without even reading it

because you feel the weight of it

every second of every day.

But

what if

you unzipped your

backpack

and took each book out~

then what?

You would have to touch it.

You would have to read the title.

You would have to acknowledge that it is there.

But

what if

you returned each book.~

Where would your worry be

Where would your uncertainty be

Where would your ____________ be?

.Returned,

but not to the library,

because why burden someone else?

So instead~

you leave it

at the

Cross.

Just as Christian did,

the main character in the

Book

Pilgrim's Progress~

Now I saw in my dream Christian walking briskly up a highway fenced on both sides with a high wall. He began to run, though he could not run fast because of the load on his back. On top of the hill, he came to a cross. Just as he got to the cross, his burden came loose, dropped from his shoulders, and went tumbling down the hill. It fell into an open grave, and I saw it no more.

Unburdened

Now Christian’s heart was light. He had found relief from his burden. He said to himself, “He has given me rest by His sorrows, and life by His death.”*

Unburdened

because

you aren't reminded every second about the heaviness,

because it is off your back.

What is the title of our heaviest book in your backpack?

We all have one.

Are you ready to leave it at the Cross?

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Now instead of carrying a heavy backpack with you

Wherever you go

He is with you

wherever you go

carrying it for you.

Let's go return some books~

because I have some that are way overdue!

Back to Basics

Back to School.
