Day 7: The Empty Stocking

Oh how I love old movies,

and it isn't only because I am old,

but because I have always liked them.

Is it the simplicity of being in black and white

or the simple truths that they bring

or is it

Cary Grant

who plays an angel,

sent into

a Bishop's life,

to bring

Christmas back into his heart

in the movie,

"The Bishop's Wife" ?

Listen to the Bishop's renewed heart in his Christmas message called

"The Empty Stocking"

What gift will you give Jesus in His stocking?

The wise men came with gifts...

Our finest gifts we bring pa-rum pum pum pum To lay before the King pa-rum pum pum pum

But what did The Little Drummer Boy have?

I am a poor boy too, pa-rum pum pum pum I have no gift to bring pa-rum pum pum pum That's fit to give our King pa- rum pum pum pum

The Little Drummer boy, so wanting to bring

The Little Baby

something,

but was "just" a poor boy with "just" a drum.

What did he have to give that would be fit for

The Baby, The King?

Do you think like the Little Drummer Boy thinks...

What can I give to a King because I am "just" a or have "just" a?

But then you look down and see that you have a drum and

you know how to pa-rum pum pum pum.

Maybe this would be good enough.

Maybe I would be good enough.

“Shall I play for you on my drum”, the Little Drummer Boy asks.

And I bet he wasn’t ready for the response he received..

Mary nodded

Mary said yes.

When..

ALL he had was a drum

and

he played his best for them

and

then they smiled at him.

And

then the word

Come

gets louder~

Just

Come

as you are

with whatever you have

and

whoever you may or not be.

Just come…

to the Baby who whispers your name

Just

Come

"Then He smiled at me pa-rum pum pum pum" Me and my ___________!

How will you fill in the blank?

Just...

"Come, they told me pa-rum pum pum pum"

to

The Baby

Who wants to be your

King

and

Give Him your heart

so

that not only

The Baby's

stocking

isn't empty,

but so

yours

will be filled!

Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me. I cried out to Him with my mouth; His praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer.

Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld

His love from me!

Psalm 66:16-20
