Day 29: Just Do It

I don't wear a helmet when riding my bike,

even though I know I should.

But since I have so much hair,

isn't like I am wearing a helmet?

Hmm.

The other day when my hubby and I were getting ready

to ride our bikes,

I strongly felt the nudging from GOD.

From deep within my soul

I heard the words

"WEAR YOUR HELMET",

for I know I didn't initiate these words.

Argh.

For I knew where these words came from.

So I thought I include my hubby in this,

and told him that WE better wear our helmets.

Well,

since I am not GOD, 

he declined (as yes he doesn't wear one either, the secret is out),

and I wore the helmet.

I know it sounds so silly as to not wear one

as I should,

but this ended up being so much bigger than to just wear one.

As we were riding,

and sweat was pouring out from under the helmet,

 my overactive brain was riding faster then my feet

as I was trying to figure out why I was wearing one,

besides just because I should.

 I was looking for a bigger reason.

I thought that GOD was preparing me for a fall that I was going to have,

as to why HE wanted me to wear one.

And then it happened.

It was like I saw the burning bush.

 GOD got my attention.

GOD was saying,

JUST OBEY ME BECAUSE I ASKED!

 Just

WEAR THE HELMET

because HE asked me to.

 It hit me hard.

Just because GOD asks us to do something

doesn't mean that something bad is going to happen.

It wasn't about a big fall that HE foresaw in my life.

GOD just wanted me to OBEY HIM.

Now, do I not wear a seatbelt.

Of course I wear one.

Now, do I not go the speed limit.

Hmm. I try.

PREVENTATIVE OBEDIENCE

is

BLESSED OBEDIENCE

because

GOD knows better than us.

So when GOD says,

"DO NOT FEAR",

HE doesn't mean that the boogie man is about to show up at your front door.

So when GOD says,

"TRUST ME",

doesn't me that someone is going to betray you.

So when GOD says

"LOVE ME WITH YOUR ALL",

HE doesn't mean that you will be asked to sacrifice your son

like HE asked Abraham.

Or when GOD asked NOAH to build an ark.

Or maybe it was when

JESUS healed the paralytic man

and said,

"Pick up your mat and walk".

Or when JESUS said,

BELIEVE in ME.

There it is.

JUST BELIEVE. 

No more. No less.

JUST WEAR THE HELMET. 

GOD is in the simple things,

yet do we take the time to look at the simple

as being part of a much bigger picture.

With every hammer Noah was asked to build a big thing,

without any water in sight.

But he did.

And why?

Because GOD asked him to.

What is GOD asking you to do or undo?

Could it be to just

WEAR A HELMET.

I will never look at a helmet the same.

It wasn't the burning bush,

or the parting of the sea,

but it felt like it

because GOD used a simple thing to be BIG thing.

For HE opened up my

FAITH HEART

to stop trying to

figure out everything

and just

do what HE asks

when HE asks

because

 and I am not.

So whether you wear a helmet or not

will you join me and

"OBEY"
